| My name is Sue Polland and I am head of the ‘Risings’ groups, I work Full-Time and have worked at Into-play for the past seven years. In my years working at the Nursery I have completed my NVQ Level 2 and then soon after went straight on to do my NVQ Level 3. I am supported in the room by 3 other members of staff. Angela Chaplin is currently working towards her NVQ Level 3 and she works everyday except Fridays, she has a 2 year old daughter who has attended into-play since she was a few months old. Yvonne Craze has recently returned to us after her maternity leave and at the moment does Mondays only. Yvonne has worked here for seven years, too. Our third member of staff is Karen Taylor, she works full time in the Rising 2’s and is just about to begin her NVQ Level 2. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The
Rising 2’s Room |
| Our Rising 2’s room is divided into two areas. We have an area with lino flooring – which we use as our “Messy Area” – and an area where we can get out the sand, water, shaving foam, painting etc. This is also the area where the children sit up to the table to eat their snacks and meals. The other area of this room is the carpeted area enabling the children to do more “floor” activities such as building train tracks, playing with treasure baskets, music and movement. Within the Rising 2’s room we have our own kitchenette area – this allows us to make drinks for the children at all times throughout the day. We also have nappy changing facilities within the room – every child in the Rising 2’s is given their own basket that we store above the nappy changing area – this is where we store nappies and change of clothes. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Food
provision |
| We have a varied balanced menu which is available for you to look at on our parent’s notice board in our Main Entrance. Below is an example of how our food is spread out through the day. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Milk and water is supplied to the children during the above mealtimes – we do provide trainer cups for the children and gradually introduce the children to drinking without lids. Also, in the Rising 2’s we begin to encourage the children to feed them-selves at mealtimes, this is all fully supervised and no child is ever left unattended whilst they are eating a meal or snack. The staff sits with their group of children and encourages good conversation during meal/snack times No child is ever refused food, and if they do not like a certain type of food/meal, we will do our utmost to make sure a substitute is made available. We cater for individual dietary needs or preferences. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Key-Carer |
| Your
child is allocated a key carer when they start here at Into-play. She is
responsible for keeping up to date your child’s observation and assessment
paperwork and is also your 1st point of contact should you need to speak
to anyone regarding your child’s care or learning area. She will also monitor and assess your child’s individual development and will provide appropriate stimulation for his/her every need. You are also welcome to speak to me (Sue), or Hayley, Laura or Sally (The Management Team) at any time. |
Routine |
| During your Child’s 1st introduction, the Key-Carer will discuss with you their individual needs, likes and dislikes, and your own wishes. For example, would you like them to sleep in a buggy or on the sleep mats? Etc. A copy of the Rising 2’s daily routine is set out below for you to look at: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Please note: Our standard Nappy Change times are 9am, 11am, 2pm, and 4pm. Obviously if a child is wet or soiled in between these times they will be changed as soon as possible. Occasionally, we have had children who begin to show interest in potty training from a very early age – and in the Rising 2’s we will support both you and your child if they are beginning to use the potty! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I hope you and your child will be very happy and enjoy your time at Into-Play, and also feel secure in the thought that we are here for you and welcome any questions or concerns that you may have. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Supplies |
| In the Rising 2’s room the only thing we ask parents to provide us with is nappies. It is up to you how you provide us with the nappies. Most parents give us a pack and we write the child’s name on them and store them away in our cupboard – we then replenish their baskets as and when we need to. Others bring nappies in on a daily basis. We provide Sudocreme, Vaseline, Wet Wipes, however some parents do prefer to provide their own wet wipes – as some children may have sensitive skin and therefore become allergic to the ones we provide. As we do lots of messy play during the day it would be of great help if you could provide us with a change of clothes. We do provide aprons and catcher bibs during messy activities and mealtimes – however, the children still manage to get covered in paint/spaghetti etc!! We also provide sun-cream and Calpol. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Outside |
| The rising 2’s make good use of their outside play area; we go out at least twice a day, normally once in the morning and again in the afternoon. We have a lovely Winnie-The-Pooh playhouse and a little climbing frame with slide – we also take the push-along toys out with us, too! During the summer months we can also have morning or afternoon snack underneath our large parasols which protect the children from the sun whilst enjoying the fresh air! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
