| My name is Sue Polland and I am head of the ‘Risings’ groups, I work Full-Time and have worked at Into-play for the past seven years. In my years working at the Nursery I have completed my NVQ Level 2 and then soon after went straight on to do my NVQ Level 3. I am supported in the room by two other Full-Time members of staff and they are: Katy Jones who is NVQ Level 2 and has been with us since ’04 and Emma Stower who has also completed her Level 2 and has worked at Into-play since 2002. We also have supply cover (Jackie and Afia) who come in and help us on our busier days, too! The children are usually with us between the ages of 2 to 3 years depending on their individual development – they then move up into our last section of the Nursery – The Pre School. Our staff to child ratio in the Rising 3’s is 1:4; we can have a maximum of 16 children in the group. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The
Rising 3’s Room |
| Our
Rising 3’s Room is a lovely large spacious area, consisting of a large
lino floor area – where the children’s tables are set up, allowing
them to explore lots of ‘messy play!’ Easels, sand-play and
water-play are readily available for the children in this area. Also in
the room is a carpeted area, in which we have a home corner, book area and
dressing up area. We have a separate toilet area for the Rising 3’s – which has lovely murals of Rainbow Fish on the walls. In the toilet unit (for those not potty trained) we also have a nappy changing unit, and two little hand-washing basins which we encourage the children to use after trips to the toilet and before touching food, the children are fully monitored by staff at all times whilst they are in the toilet. |

Food
provision |
| We have a varied balanced menu which is available for you to look at on our parent’s notice board in our Main Entrance. Below is an example of how our food is spread out through the day. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Milk and water is supplied to the children during the above mealtimes – we provide cups for the children. We also provide sports water bottles for every child – this is a constant supply of fresh drinking water for the children – they have access to these bottles AT ALL TIMES throughout their Nursery day. No child is ever refused food, and if they do not like a certain type of food/meal, we will do our utmost to make sure a substitute is made available. We cater for individual dietary needs or preferences. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Key-Carer |
| Your
child is allocated a key carer when they start here at Into-play. She is
responsible for keeping up to date your child’s observation and assessment
paperwork and is also your 1st point of contact should you need to speak
to anyone regarding your child’s care or learning area. She will also monitor and assess your child’s individual development and will provide appropriate stimulation for his/her every need. You are also welcome to speak to me (Sue), or Hayley, Laura or Sally (The Management Team) at any time. |
Routine |
| During your Child’s 1st introduction, the Key-Carer will discuss with you their individual needs, likes and dislikes, and your own wishes. For example, would you like them to sleep in a buggy or on the sleep mats? Etc. A copy of the Rising 3’s daily routine is set out below for you to look at. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Please note: Our standard Nappy Change times are 9am, 11am, 2pm, and 4pm. Obviously if a child is wet or soiled in between these times they will be changed as soon as possible. For children beginning to use the toilet, the staff will accompany the children to the toilet every 20 – 30 minutes throughout the day. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I hope you and your child will be very happy and enjoy your time at Into-Play, and also feel secure in the thought that we are here for you and welcome any questions or concerns that you may have. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Supplies |
| We do supply Wet-Wipes; however, we do ask you to provide us with nappies/training pants for your child, and also a few pairs of clean underwear during the latter stages of potty-training – due to the inevitable accidents!! As we do lots of messy play during the day – it would be of great help if you could provide us with a change of clothes. We do provide aprons during messy activities – however, the children still manage to get covered in paint/spaghetti etc!! We also provide sun-cream and Calpol. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Outside |
| The rising 3’s make good use of their outside play area. The staff often plan activities to do whilst outside so there is a purpose. For example, we could take the water tray outside and some dolls, so the children can imagine they are bathing a baby, or we take the balancing beams out so the children can practice and develop their balancing skills. During the summer months we can also have morning or afternoon snack underneath our large parasols which protect the children from the sun whilst enjoying the fresh air! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
