I am supported in the room by two other members of staff and they are: Natalie Woodman who works full-time and is NNEB and Sue Oliveri who works Monday-Thursday mornings, Sue has worked in our baby room for the past 11 years!! We take babies from birth and they usually stay with us until they are about sixteen months old, and ready to move into the Rising 2’s room. Our staff to child ratio is 1:3.

The Baby Room

Our Baby Room has a very relaxed, calm atmosphere. We have our own kitchenette area where we prepare food throughout the day to suit individual baby’s needs; this area includes a fridge, microwave and bottle warming area. This area is also used for feeding the babies in highchairs and also painting and various other messy activities. We have a play area, which is fully carpeted and includes large, soft mats and comfortable cushions for the younger babies. This room is fully air-conditioned and a naturally bright and airy room. We have a nappy changing area and separate hand-washing sink. All staff in our baby room are police checked and in-house training regarding hygiene and how to prevent cross infections are regularly carried out.
We are very lucky to have access to an all-weather outdoor play area, where we can take the babies for some fresh air! This area is fully shaded with the use of large parasols; we use this area to have little picnics and paddle in the water-play in the summertime. We supply and apply sunscreen to your baby.

Sleep Time

We have a separate cot-room which is joined onto the Baby Room, which has a large window that allows us to regularly check the babies. We also have a policy which requires us to check the babies every 10 minutes; this is logged down on a checklist. A baby monitor is also used as extra precaution. Clean bedding is provided for every baby, the temperature of our cot-room is regularly checked by staff via a room thermometer.
If you do not wish your child to be put in a cot, we have alternative sleeping arrangements available in the actual Baby Room with the staff, such as baby swings, bouncers and pushchairs.

Food Provision

We have a varied balanced menu which is available for you to look at on our parent’s notice board in our Main Entrance. A copy will also be given to you by us during your intro and we can also provide jarred food, fresh pureed fruit and vegetables, packet foods and cereals, rusk’s and other ‘baby food’. We also cater for all individual dietary needs or preferences.

Key-Carer

Your child is allocated a key carer when they start here at Into-Play. She is responsible for keeping up to date your child’s routine and is also your 1st point of contact should you need to speak to anyone regarding your baby’s care. She will also monitor and assess your child’s individual developmental needs and will provide appropriate stimulation for your Baby’s every need. You are also welcome to speak to me (Claire), or Hayley, Laura or Sally (The Management Team) at any time.

Routine

During your Baby’s 1st introduction, the Key-Carer will discuss with you your babies’ individual needs, likes and dislikes, and your own wishes. We follow Baby’s current routine and would ask you to keep us updated as to how your child is progressing with regard sleep, meal times and behaviour. Once both we, as staff, and you as parents feel happy, we will begin to integrate our Nursery routine, in preparation for them moving up into the Rising 2’s room.

Supplies

We ask you to provide us with a change of clothing and nappies which will be stored in your child’s own individual basket.
The basket will stay with them until they reach the age that they no longer require nappies.
We also ask you to provide breast or formula milk for your child until you are happy for them to have cow’s milk which we will provide. We supply baby wipes, nappy cream, bibs, teething gel and Calpol if your Baby should need it.

Play Time

There are various toys and equipment for the babies to play with and these are changed frequently. All toys are sterilized on a weekly basis e.g. rattles, play gyms, books and mats. We follow the Birth to Three Matters Framework, which is planned weekly. Examples of activities are puppets, singing and instruments, water-play, books and all types of messy/creative play.
I hope you and your child will be very happy and enjoy your time at Into-Play, and also feel secure in the thought that we are here for you and welcome any questions or concerns that you may have.
