Welcome to the Baby RoomThe Baby Room
Our baby room has a very relaxed, calm atmosphere. We have our own kitchenette area where we prepare food throughout the day to suit individual baby’s needs. This area is also used for feeding the babies in highchairs and also painting and various other messy/sensory activities. We have a play area, which is fully carpeted and includes large, soft mats and comfortable cushions for the younger babies, in the naturally bright and airy room. We have a nappy changing area and separate hand-washing sink all within the room and all staff in our baby room hold relevant CRB checks. In-house training regarding hygiene and how to prevent cross infections are regularly carried out as well as daily risk assessments.
We are very lucky to have access to an all-weather outdoor play area, where we can take the babies for some fresh air! This area is fully shaded with the use of large parasols; we use this area to have little picnics and paddle in the water-play in the summertime.
The age range of children in the baby room is 6 weeks to 1 year old, dependant on development. We will then move your child up into Rising 2's once they are walking confidently. Key-Person
Your child is allocated a key person when they start here at Into-Play. They are responsible for keeping your child’s routine up to date and are also your 1st point of contact should you need to speak to anyone regarding your baby’s care. They will also monitor and assess your child’s individual developmental needs with regard to The Early Years Foundation Stage and will provide appropriate stimulation for your baby’s every need. You are also welcome to speak to Laura or Sally (The Management Team) at any time.
Food Provision
We have a varied balanced menu which is available for you to look at on our parent’s notice board in our Main Entrance. A copy will also be given to you by us during your intro and we can also provide fresh pureed fruit and vegetables, packet foods and cereals, rusk’s and other ‘baby food’. We also cater for all individual dietary needs or preferences. Routine
During your Baby’s 1st introduction, the Key-Person will discuss with you your babies’ individual needs, likes and dislikes, and your own wishes. We follow Baby’s current routine and would ask you to keep us updated as to how your child is progressing with regard sleep, meal times and behaviour. Once both we, as staff, and you as parents feel happy, we will begin to integrate our Nursery routine, in preparation for them moving up into the Rising 2’s room. Play Time
There are various toys and equipment for the babies to play with and these are changed frequently. All toys are sterilized on a weekly basis e.g. rattles, play gyms, books and mats. Playing Outside In The Ball-Pit! |
Supplies
We ask you to provide us with a change of clothing and nappies which will be stored in your child’s own individual basket. The basket will stay with them until they reach the age that they no longer require nappies.
We also ask you to provide breast or formula milk for your child until you are happy for them to have cow’s milk which we will provide. We supply baby wipes, nappy cream, bibs, teething gel and Calpol if your Baby should need it. Sleep Time
We have a separate cot-room which is joined onto the Baby Room, which has a large window that allows us to regularly check the babies. We also have a policy which requires us to check the babies every 10 minutes; this is logged down on a checklist. A baby monitor is also used as extra precaution. Clean bedding is provided for every baby, the temperature of our cot-room is regularly checked by staff via a room thermometer.
If you do not wish your child to sleep in the cot-room, we have an alternative sleeping arrangement available in the form of comfortable custom-made sleep mats within the baby room itself. Cot-Room |
E.Y.F.S.
We follow The Early Years Foundation Stage and each member of staff takes responsibility to tailor/plan activities for the individual child. We have a wide range of resources available to us; examples of activities are puppets, singing and instruments, water-play, books and all types of messy/creative play. We hope you and your child will be very happy and enjoy your time at Into-Play, and also feel secure in the thought that we are here for you and welcome any questions or concerns that you may have.
