Welcome to the Rising 2's RoomThe Rising 2’s RoomOur Rising 2’s room is divided into two areas. We have an area with lino flooring – which we use as our “Messy Area” - an area where we can get out the sand, water, shaving foam, painting etc. This is also the dining area where the children sit up to the table to eat their snacks and meals.
The other area of this room is the carpeted area enabling the children to do more “floor” activities such as building train tracks, playing with treasure baskets, music and movement.
Within the Rising 2’s room we have our own kitchenette area – this allows us to make drinks for the children at all times throughout the day. We also have nappy changing facilities within the room – every child in the Rising 2’s is given their own basket this is where we store nappies and change of clothes.
The age range of children in Rising 2's is approximately 1-2 years old, dependant on development. We tend to move them up from the baby room when they are walking confidently. Key-PersonYour child is allocated a key person when they start here at Into-Play. They are responsible for keeping your child’s routine up to date and are also your 1st point of contact should you need to speak to anyone regarding your child’s care. They will also monitor and assess your child’s individual developmental needs with regard to The Early Years Foundation Stage and will provide appropriate stimulation for your baby’s every need. You are also welcome to speak to Laura or Sally (The Management Team) at any time.
Food provisionWe have a varied balanced menu which is available for you to look at on our parent’s notice board in our Main Entrance. Below is an example of how our food is spread out through the day.
8.30–8.45 Breakfast 10.00-10.15 Morning Snack 11.30-12.00 Lunch 15.00-15.30 Supper
Milk or water are supplied to the children during the above mealtimes – we do provide trainer cups for the children and gradually introduce the children to drinking without lids. Also, in the Rising 2’s we begin to encourage the children to feed themselves at mealtimes, this is all fully supervised and no child is left unattended whilst they are eating a meal or snack. The Key Person sits with their group of children and encourages good conversation during meal/snack times. No child is ever refused food, and if they do not like a certain type of food/meal, we will do our utmost to make sure a substitute is made available. We cater for individual dietary needs or preferences. OutsideThe rising 2’s make good use of their outside play area; we go outside at least twice a day, normally once in the morning and again in the afternoon. We have a lovely Winnie-The-Pooh playhouse and a little climbing frame with slide – we also take the push-along toys out with us, too. During the summer months we can also have morning or afternoon tea underneath our large parasols which protect the children from the sun whilst enjoying the fresh air! Peek-a-booooooo! |
RoutineDuring your Child’s 1st introduction, the Key-Person will discuss with you their individual needs, likes and dislikes. As we follow The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum we encourage the children to choose their own activities rather than plan for them. There are some adult-led activities but it is mainly a child-led day. SuppliesIn the Rising 2’s the only thing we request you to provide is nappies, which are stored in your child's basket, we will then notify you when they need replacing. We provide Sudocrem and Wet Wipes, however some parents provide their own wet wipes – for example, if their child has sensitive skin. As we do lots of messy play during the day it would be beneficial if you could provide us with a spare change of clothes. We do provide aprons and catcher bibs during messy activities and mealtimes – however, as you can appreciate the children still manage to get covered in paint/spaghetti etc! We also provide sun-cream and calpol, however permission slips must be filled in prior to us being able to apply/administer in line with the Statutory Framework for the E.Y.F.S. Sleep TimeWhen your child first starts in the Rising 2's we will ask you about their current sleep pattern and will endeavour to keep to this routine. Generally speaking, the main sleep-time in Rising 2's is after lunch (12.00pm) however, we do have some younger children who still have a sleep in the morning. We have a quiet area suitable for rest and sleep times within the room, enabling the staff to monitor the sleepers at all times. Custom-made sleep-mats and clean bedding is supplied by us daily, however if your child has a specific comforter which they like to have during sleep/rest periods (such as soothers/blankets from home) please feel free to bring them in. Tired After Lunch! |
E.Y.F.SWe follow The Early Years Foundation Stage and each member of staff takes responsibility to tailor/plan activities for their own Key-Child, in both group and one-to-one activities. We have a wide range of resources available to us; examples of activities are bubbles, house-play, musical instruments, sand-play and other types of messy/creative play. We hope you and your child will be very happy and enjoy your time at Into-Play, and also feel secure in the thought that we are here for you and welcome any questions or concerns that you may have. |
