Healthy Eating

In 2009, ten nurseries in Gloucestershire were approached to pilot the new food/healthy eating scheme for the under 5’s.   Into-Play in Longlevens was one of the ten!

We have also recently been handpicked by the Bristol University to take part in the NAPSACC* study, which is an obesity research study that has been hugely successful over in America and is now being trialled in the South of England before (hopefully) being rolled out nationally.

We have an annual food inspection every year carried out by Gloucester City Council.   Known as “Scores On the Doors” it rates any establishment serving food to the public.  Since this scheme was introduced, we have been awarded the highest 5* rating across all of our nurseries every year.

Cooking and food preparation plays a significant part of the children’s learning experiences.  The children are encouraged to assist in preparing their healthy snacks (e.g., cutting up vegetables) as well as baking bread for afternoon tea.   Prepared on site by our resident cook, the children enjoy a hot lunch, high tea and varied snack menu – our food is fresh, healthy and delicious. The children’s empty plates will give you the best idea about how successful our food is!  When new parents join us, we have an electronic version of all our recipes used here at the nursery, so you can replicate them at home with the whole family!   Click here to see a recipe suggestion for you and your child to enjoy:

Fantastic place, friendly and caring staff. Nice outside area plenty of space to play and a lot of toys to play with. Staff always give reports about my babies’ day which is very helpful when leaving. I would recommend this place to anyone who needs childcare and wants to have a happy baby.
